Legal eagles are weighing in their views on the appeal by the defense team for Rwandan national Vincent Murekezi, to let the extradition treaty be domesticated before applying it in Malawi.

Pressure is mounting on the Mutharika administration to flush out more genocide suspects that the authorities in Rwanda say are hiding in this country.

The public spotlight will today be on the Rwanda genocide suspect who will appear in court in Lilongwe, for his extradition case.

Malawian police on Thursday said they had arrested a Rwandan who was convicted of genocide crimes back home but has been living in the country for 13 years.

The police in Malawi organised meetings and solidarity march in Karonga and Chitipa districts as one of the strategies to ensure that people with albinism are protected and live peacefully.

 

Rwanda's President Paul Kagame has confirmed that he will seek re-election for a third term in 2017.

There are growing calls for people in Malawi to go for voluntary testing and counseling as the country joins the rest of the world in commemorating World AIDS Day on December 1.
