Two years after its takeover, Carlsberg Malawi has officially changed its name to Castel Malawi Limited.
The name change comes after the French Company Castel took majority shares in the Dutch franchise.
Carlsberg Malawi has been in operation in the country since the late 60s after first President Kamuzu banda embarked on an industrialisation move.
According to Company Secretary Chipiliro Kauka the change is effective 24th October, but has assured that all operation of the Brewery Group remains constant.
Companies such as Malawi Distilleries, Southern Bottlers Limited and Castel Malawi Brewery Limited then Carlsberg Malawi Brewery remain the subsidiaries of the group.
Meanwhile it is yet to be seen when the branding of their products on the market will start wearing the new face under the new name.
Castel Malawi Limited is a beverages only company comprising of five soft drink bottling plants, a distillery and a brewery.
