The Ministry of Agriculture is today expected to unveil interventions on the outbreak of Fall Army Worms, which is threatening crop yield this year.

President Mutharika has declared Malawi a state of disaster, following the outbreak of the worm.

Mutharika appealed to the country’s development partners to help to deal with the pest.

Thousands of hectares of Maize have been destroyed by the pest in most parts of the country.

The Farmers Union of Malawi has been expressing concern over the failure by the government to timely provide effective pesticides to deal with the pest.

The Minister of Agriculture Joseph Mwanamvekha has since told Capital FM, that he will engage the media today in Lilongwe to provide details about the situation on the ground, and the government’s intervention.
