Two road accidents have claimed four lives in Ntcheu district, on Saturday.
The first accident happened at Mlangeni Trading Centre and the other at Mapila village, along M1 road.
Ntcheu Police publicist Hastings Chigalu confirmed to Capital FM that the Mlangeni accident claimed three lives who were hit by a speeding vehicle.
Chigalu discloses that the accident happened as the driver of a Toyota Vitz was trying to overtake a truck but failed due to an incoming vehicle hence hitting a minibus in the process.
According to Chigalu, the vehicle overturned to the edge of the road where it hit three pedestrians.
Two female pedestrians and a nine year old boy died on the spot due to head injuries.
In the other accident, the driver of a Nissan Note, with two passengers on board failed to negotiate a corner hence overturning and killing one passenger.
The Police say the passenger died due to head injuries while receiving medical treatment at Dedza District Hospital.
Last year, thousands of lives were lost on the roads of Malawi.
