A total of 10 volleyball teams from across the country are expected to compete in a Ladies Invitational volleyball tournament to be held at Blantyre Youth Centre (BYC).
The games will start from the 30th of September to 1st October.
All regions of the country will participate in the tournament.
Speaking to Malawi News Agency Vice Chairperson of the tournament organising committee, Fannie Kanyenda has described the event as a means of uplifting the standard of play for women volleyball in the country.
She says the tournament will allow women in the sport to take the initiative and become proactive in organizing themselves in order to build a strong pool for the national team.
Kanyenda adds that this is the second ladies invitational tournament that they have hosted with support from well wishers in cash or kind.
The event, according to the Chairperson is about women empowerment and promoting the participation of girls in sports so as to prevent negative behaviours that put their lives at risk.
