Various sports associations in Malawi are promising to do well in international tournaments scheduled for this year.
Most of the country’s sports disciplines have been failing to bring good results due to various factors.
The year 2018 may be the beginning of a new chapter in the country’s sports arena.
Various sports disciplines are busy working towards achieving good results to satisfy their fans.
Ahead of All African Youth Games and Youth Olympic Games in Algeria and Argentina, the Malawi Taekwondo National team hopes to do well.
National Taekwondo coach Lovemore Masinga believes the pace at which they are, at the moment, they will yield more than the country expects of them.
Masinga is hoping to sail through successes until 2020 for the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
“Our preparations are going well and our players are well prepared. The players are doing very good training are thoroughly prepared themselves for the games.
There is a certain group of athletes whom I know will come out top,” Masinga added.
Meanwhile after a poor run at last year’s Fast Five World Netball series in Australia, the Netball National Team has promised to go as angry Lions at the Commonwealth games in Australia.
The tournament takes place every four years for athletes from Commonwealth nations.
Netball Association of Malawi’s President Khungekire Matiya, confirms their participation with promises of good results.
“Malawi is participating and we can assure Malawians that they will not be disappointed once we compete,” Matiya said.
Netball, Squash, Weightlifting, Table Tennis and Basketball are some of the Sports Associations expected to participate at the Commonwealth Games from 4th to 15th of April in Australia.
With the promises being made, Malawians are expected to see the country being flooded with various medals of excellence this year.
