South Africa Bags 5 Awards At AMVCA 2017

The fifth annual Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards crowned the best in African film and television talent in Lagos, Nigeria, on Saturday. 

The ceremony, which was broadcast live across the continent, was hosted by IK Osakioduwa and Minnie Dlamini for a second year in a row. 

South Africa bagged five awards: Best Cinematographer - Happiness is a Four Letter Word, Best Writer – Vaya, Best Movie SA – All About Love, Best Sound Editing – Vaya and Best Documentary - Alison.

Songstress and Voice SA coach Lira performed Mountains with Nigerian singer Waje at the ceremony.

However no Malawian actor or film received a nomination this year.

Last year filmmaker Joyce Mhango Chavula scooped an award for the best film in southern Africa.


The movie, about a 13 year-old girl who later grows into a beautiful young lady but is still haunted by her past become the country’s first ever film to clinch an award at the AMVCA.
