South Africa bagged five awards: Best Cinematographer - Happiness is a Four Letter Word, Best Writer – Vaya, Best Movie SA – All About Love, Best Sound Editing – Vaya and Best Documentary - Alison.

However no Malawian actor or film received a nomination this year.
Last year filmmaker Joyce Mhango Chavula scooped an award for the best film in southern Africa.
The movie, about a 13 year-old girl who later grows into a beautiful young lady but is still haunted by her past become the country’s first ever film to clinch an award at the AMVCA.
