Apart from being nominated in the Afro Hip Hop/ Afro Rap Artist of Excellence category, the artist’s hit Mkazi Wakumwamba has been nominated in the Video of Excellence category.
The Blantyre based rapper released Mkazi Wakumwamba last year where he collaborated with Faith Mussa.
The video’s 90’s feel and high quality picture has put it on the top of the most viewed Malawian music videos on YouTube.
Mkazi Wakumwamba’s music video is estimated to have cost MK500, 000 to make.
Speaking to Capital FM the artist said this was a sign that Malawian music was being recognized internationally.
Real name, Aubrey Ghambi said, “It is really amazing and awesome to be nominated. I really appreciate those putting together the awards for recognizing Malawian music.”
He promises his fans of a new single set for release in a couple of weeks.
In the recently announced Nyasa Music Award nominations, Suffix will battle it out with other local artists to either win the best gospel artist or best hip hop artist award or both.
The AGMMA’s are expected to be held on the 3rd of June in London, Britain.
