The last time Malawi took part in the competition in 2014, the team finished bottom of the 12 countries that competed.
The confidence exuded by the players, starting with Captain Chris Mzokomera comes from the training sessions they have had ahead of the tournament.
The four players are Mzokomera, Aadil Parker, Rashid Salimu and Gift Lusho Tembo.
Speaking on departure at the Chileka International Airport in Blantyre on Sunday, Mzokomera vowed to bring glory and pride to the Malawi nation.
“As a team, we are very ready because we’ve been working with the Coach on the golf course and we had practice shots where the Coach spent time drilling us, “said Mzokomera.
He declared that they were not in Zimbabwe just for a stroll in the park challenging that they were going to compete.
And one of the players Lusho Tembo vowed that “I am not going there for sightseeing, I am going there to compete and bring pride and honour to my country.”
Coach Dingani Chirwa said they were ready and his players are mentally fit for the showpiece.
The tournament is being played at the Royal Golf Club in Harare and is expected to end on Friday.
