A 47 year old man was found beheaded in a maize field several meters from his home in the district.
Apart from being beheaded, the man’s private parts were also removed.
Police in Nkhatabay confirmed the development and two suspects have been apprehended in connection to the case.
According to Nkhatabay police spokesperson Ignatius Esau, the two suspects were arrested following tips from the public.
The two are set to appear in court to answer charges of murder which contravenes section 209 of the penal code.
This is coming barely a month after a family of three was murdered in the same manner in Lilongwe.
The three, who were originally from Rhumphi district, were in the capital city to purchase a family vehicle.
However they did not make it back home as their assailants beheaded and then dumped their remains in Bunda forest.
According to police in Lilongwe the heads of the three have still not been found though they have been identified by their relatives.
The public is blaming the law enforcers over their lack of activeness in solving cases and preventing such crimes from occurring.
