The residents are each expected to receive a total of MK14,400 for works carried out over a period of 24 days.
In an interview with the Malawi News Agency, the Director of Planning and Development for Blantyre, Francis Matewere disclosed that a total of 233 projects are being implemented.
According to Matewere, the project is mainly targeting vulnerable groups which include; elderly people, female headed households, child headed households and widows in projects such as; rehabilitation of community roads, afforestation and digging of fish ponds.
Apart providing the people with income, the project is also aimed at improving community infrastructure like roads, making it possible for vehicles such as ambulances to serve them easily.
The three year project has a MK 233 Million annual budget and is expected to wind up in 2019.
