All eyes will be on the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) this weekend, as they are expected to unveil an expatriate coach for the national team.

The Belgian, Ronny Van Geneugden, arrived on Thursday at Chileka airport, where he was quickly whisked away from the press.

Van Geneugden, 48, is a former Belgian football player and is expected to be tasked with whipping the Malawi Football team into shape.

The Flames are currently in camp, ahead of the CHAN qualifier against Madagascar.

The Malawi team is currently in camp preparing for its qualifier slated for the 23rd of this month in the Madagascan capital Antananarivo.

Assistant coach, Gerald Phiri has roped in three additional players to the squad.

According to team manager, Peter Mponda the three are unattached former South Africa-based forward Robin Ngalande and Kamuzu Barracks duo of Pempho Kansichili and Manase Chiyesa.

Mponda said Chiyesa has replaced injured Be Forward Wanderers striker Peter Wadabwa.

“Peter was already injured when he joined camp and he only aggravated it,” he said.

Ngalande will be making a return to the Flames after over a year during which he has not played competitive football at club level.
