Malawi confirms first cholera case

Malawi has confirmed its first Cholera case for the 2020/2021 cholera season.
According to Ministry of Health Spokesperson Joshua Malango, the case is of a 3-year-old from Chirimba Township in Blantyre.
The child was admitted at Chileka isolation centre on Sunday and has since been discharged.
Malango reminds the public to strictly observe preventive measures as health authorities monitor the situation on the ground.
Cholera season in Malawi starts on 1st November and comes to an end on 31st October of the following calendar year. In many districts, cholera usually occurs during the rainy season (Nov to April).
