30 arrested in connection to exam leakage

More than 30 students have been arrested in connection with the leakage of national examinations for secondary schools.

The examination body, Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) on Tuesday evening convened an emergency meeting after some copies of the examination papers were circulated online.

According to media reports, the meeting went on till midnight. The exam body is yet to inform the public on the decision made.

Among the papers that have been circulated include, English, Biology, Chemistry and History.

Speaking to Capital FM, MANEB Spokesperson Mayamiko Chiwaya assured Malawians that the matter was being treated with utmost urgency with investigation already launched.

The MSCE exams commenced last week and more than 154, 000 students are projected to be sitting for the test.
