Chisale back in court, State to parade 6 witnesses

Six more witnesses are today taking the stand in the Norman Chisale certificate forgery case.

Chisale who is security aide of former President Peter Mutharika is being accused of using another person’s JCE certificate to enlist in the military.

The matter was last in court on 30 November where the first witness, Pithius Hiwa was paraded.

In his testimony, Hiwa told the Principal Resident Magistrate court that the certificate in mention was his and Chisale stole it from him.

Hiwa also told the court that in 2012, he was threatened by Chisale who then was working at the Malawi Army, now called Malawi Defense Force.

The defense objected to the statement.

“This is a prosecution’s case at the moment so the ball is in our hands, so it’s up to us to decide and also create the path of how the case wanted to proceed,” Said State lawyer Pilirani Masanjala.

Meanwhile, proceeding have commenced and second witness in the case, Major General Alick Mhone who is Chief of Human Resource at Malawi Defense Force-MDF has taken the stand.
