The Malawi public remains in the grip of tension, as the clock ticks down to judgement day on the presidential elections case.

In the latest development, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is investigating claims that certain individuals had been trying to bride the judges who had been hearing the case.

This follows reports circulating widely on social media that the Chief Justice Andrew Nyirenda has complained to the ACB about the reports.

Several well-known personalities in the corporate and political circles are reported to be behind the attempts to bribe the judges with astronomical amounts of money.

Some of the individuals allegedly involved are named in reports on social media.

Meanwhile, the constitutional court is expected to pass judgement any day now in the much reported elections case.

The Malawi Congress Party and the UTM are challenging a declaration by the Malawi Electoral Commission that incumbent President Peter Mutharika won the May 21, 2019 presidential elections.
