The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Thomson Mpinganjira who is Executive Director Executive Director of FDH Bank.

Mpinganjira has been arrested on suspicion that he was involved in the attempted bribe of judges sitting at the Constitutional Court.

According to a statement from the ACB, they received a complaint from the Chief Justice Andrew Nyirenda on December 8, 2019.

This prompted the graft-busting body to institute investigations on the matter on December 22, 2019.

Since the matter was made public by the media, many Malawians have been calling on the ACB to revealing the names of the suspects

During a press briefing last week, the ACB Director General Reyneck Matemba maintained that they would not reveal the names of the suspects as the disclosure would affect their investigations.

Mpinganjira’s arrest has been described as a good development by the Human Rights Defenders Coalition which has been calling for the arrest of the suspects.
