Former President Bakili Muluzi is praising the judges of the constitutional court of Malawi for their judgement for fresh elections to be held in Malawi.

In a statement Muluzi who served as President in Malawi from 1994 to 2004 describes the decision to nullify the presidential elections results as a significant moment in history.

Meanwhile, the public are hoping for a statement from President Peter Mutharika following the court verdict.

Muluzi emphasizes that the unanimous decision by the judges has demonstrated to the world the strength of Malawi’s democracy.

He further extends his appreciation to Malawians following their conduct after the court verdict.

The court chastised the MEC for announcing unverified and unaudited results, delegating the Chief Elections Officer to attend to electoral complaints, use of constituency tally centres, stuffing of ballot papers, as well as failure by its officers to follow laid down procedure among several irregularities.
