Three of the 17 confirmed Covid-19 patients in the country have fully recovered from the disease.

This follows conclusive tests which were conducted over the weekend.

The three were the first cases to test positive for the virus earlier this month in Lilongwe.

Ministry of Health officials have confirmed the development and released the trio from quarantine with advice to follow all prescribed prevention measures against the virus.

Following the recoveries, Malawi now has 12 active cases of Covid-19 after two patients died over a week ago.

On Saturday, the Ministry revealed that there was a new case involving a 70-year-old man in Blantyre.

No other details on how he contracted the disease were disclosed.
