Vice President Saulos Chilima and his wife Mary have tested negative for Covid-19 after they went for a test yesterday.

This has been revealed on an official Facebook page for Chilima.

The two apparently went for a test following the death of one of the senior officials at the UTM secretariat yesterday, due to the virus.

Social media is also awash with photos of Chilima visiting Frank Mwenefumbo, an AFORD member who has since tested positive for coronavirus.

Mwenefumbo wrote on his Facebook page that he is admitted to Kamuzu Central Hospital quarantine facility where he says, he is receiving good care.

It is reported that Chilima and his wife will undergo another Covid-19 test after ten days.

He appeals to the public to observe Covid-19 preventive measures such as wearing face masks and observing social distancing.

Malawi has registered over 1,700 cases of the virus and 19 deaths.
