Veep calls for disciplinary action on parastatal CEOs

Vice President Saulos Chilima has called for disciplinary action on Parastatal organisations that have failed to submit on time Reforms Status Reports.

The reports were meant to be submitted on July 17, however, out of the 66 institutions which were expected to submit the reports, only 56 have submitted on time.

This follows several interface meeting which the Veep attended in Lilongwe and Blantyre earlier this month.

In a statement Chilima indicates that the Small and Medium Enterprise (SMEDI) was the first to submit a report on 14 July.

Reforms has called for disciplinary action on Parastatal organisations that failed to submit on time Reforms Status Reports requested on 7th July, 2020.

Nine Parastatals missed the deadline with some of them submitting as late as yesterday Monday 20th July, 2020 and the Malawi Institute of Management is yet to submit.

Chilima has since expressed dissatisfaction on the conduct of those that missed the deadline and has also directed the Controller of Statutory Corporations to take disciplinary action on the CEOs of these 10 Parastatals specifically MIM which is yet to submit its report.
