President Lazarus Chakwera has issued a serious warning to plunderers of taxpayer’s money that they should not expert mercy from him on their cases.

Chakwera issued the warning on Saturday night in his weekly address to the nation following arrests of former senior public officers in fraud, corruption and money laundering cases.

The president said trillions of kwacha were plundered without mercy, therefore the looters and plunderers must expect no mercy and the law will take its course.

Apparently, some sections of the society expected the president to be lenient and show mercy on the culprits by virtue of being a church minister.

He therefore ordered the Ministry of Justice to ensure speedy trial of the cases so that justice prevails without delay.

He also hinted on freezing assets for the looters, so that the government recovers the money.

In addition, Chakwera revealed that he will not have new vehicles on his presidential convoy, as one way of saving public resources.
