Coronavirus: Taskforce appeals for proper management of chronic illnesses

The Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19 is pleading with the public to get screened for chronic conditions to reduce risk of death due to the pandemic.

The appeal is contained in the latest daily update on the pandemic released last evening which confirms a rise in Covid-19 cases through local transmissions.

According to the latest figures, Malawi has registered 88 new Covid-19 cases, 27 new recoveries, and five new deaths.

Cumulatively, Malawi has recorded 4,361 cases including 128 deaths out of which1,017 are imported infections and 3,344 are locally transmitted.

In a statement, co-chairperson of the taskforce John Phuka stresses the need for those with chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, HIV, TB and asthma to properly manage their statuses.
