Latest statistics from the presidential Taskforce indicate that the country has registered 65 new COVID-19 cases, 59 new recoveries, and one new death.

This is according to a statement from the taskforce signed by Co-chairperson John Phuka.

Of the new cases, 61 are locally transmitted infections and four are imported infections.

Cumulatively, Malawi has recorded 4,491 cases including 137 deaths.

The statement highlights that 1,021 are imported infections and 3,470 are locally transmitted.

At least 2,137 cases have now recovered bringing the total number of active cases to 2,217.

Phuka appeals to the public to consider everyone as a potential carrier of the disease following an increase of community transmission of infection in our country.

He further stresses the need for the public to provide necessary support and collaborate with the health workers and frontline staff to ensure that we contain the spread of this virus.
