The Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19 is appealing to the public to follow coronavirus testing protocols.

Co-Chairperson of the taskforce John Phuka has made the remarks in the latest Covid-19 update.

It follows concerns from the taskforce over the tendency by some people to move from one testing centre to another when they are not satisfied with the test results.

According to Phuka some people are demanding to be tested for discharge even if they were asymptomatic at personal level or on demand from workplaces.

Phuka explains that the country has limited number of test kits hence the need to rationalize them.

Latest statistics from the taskforce shows that the country has registered 47 new Covid-19 cases, 141 new recoveries, and one new death.

Cumulatively, Malawi has recorded 5,240 cases including 164 deaths.
