Death sentence for albino baby's murder

The High Court sitting in Kasungu has sentenced to death two men for the 2016 murder of a 1 year and 11 month old baby with albinism.
 
Judge Ivy Kamanga delivered the sentence on Friday in the district. 
 
Baby Whitney was abducted in the wee hours of  3 April, 2016 while she was sleeping with her mother.
 
Her father White Chilumpha aged 30 and James Kanjira, 23 were later arrested after the baby’s skull, teeth and slothes were discovered in the bushes of Balantha Hill.
 
Apart from sentencing the two, Kamanga also sentenced Laston Phiri aged 24, to ten years for being an accomplice to the gruesome murder of the baby Whitney.
 
People with albinism in the country have been living in fear as there are continuously hunted down and murdered due to beliefs that their body parts can make one wealthy.
