Chakwera hints on key focus for maiden UNGA address

President Lazarus Chakwera has vowed to press the UN General Assembly to reinforce policies focusing on advancement of Least Developed Countries-LDCs.

Chakwera, who is current Chairperson of a grouping of 47 LDCs in the world, will deliver his maiden UNGA address this week via video conference.

In his weekly address to the nation last night, the President highlighted the need for advanced economies to, as best as they possibly can, support the underdeveloped world achieve their potential.

Chakwera also stressed his government’s commitment towards ensuring good coexistence with other nations for the sake of peace and tranquility.

He emphasized that peaceful coexistence and interaction with other nations is key to achieving swift development for Malawi, especially as his administration strives to rid the mess left by the previous regime.

The Malawi leader, concluded by stressing the importance of strengthening as well as making new relationships with various nations across the globe, with a view of boosting Malawi’s military and security capacity.
