Police in Zambia have arrested a teenager for insulting President Edgar Lungu on Facebook.

The 15-year-old boy has been charged with defamation of the president, which carries a maximum sentence of three years in jail.

Police spokesperson Esther Katongo accused him of creating a Facebook page using the name "Zoom" to publish defamatory or insulting statements about Mr Lungu.

The boy, from Kapiri Mposhi, in Zambia’s Central Province, is expected to appear in court soon.
