The Ethiopian government has opened a window of opportunity for Malawian athletes to train in Addis Ababa.

Ethiopia’s new Ambassador to Malawi, Meles Alem Tekea, made the pledge after presenting his letters of credence to President Peter Mutharika.

Tekea has told Capital FM that Ethiopia has the expertise in athletics and is willing to partner with the local athletics organization.

He boasted about Ethiopia being a country of refined athletes, with we have the best state of the art facilities for training at their disposal.

“There is no reason whatsoever for Malawian youth not to come and be one of the best global athletes, if you  may not see Malawian athletes trained in Ethiopia for the coming Tokyo Olympic, you can see in the coming few years,” said the new Ambassador.

He emphasized that people to people relations are very crucial and that his government is giving such relations priority.

Ethiopia is one of the countries in the world that produces top notch athletes that have scooped Gold, Silver and Bronze at competitions such as the Olympics.
