FedEx rescues pupils from road accidents

One of the international courier companies, FedEx has rescued primary pupils from road accidents which were affecting the pupils daily at Chiwoko primary school in Lilongwe.

FedEx through one of the international organisations, AMEND has constructed road friendly crossing infrastructure and training to equip pupils on how to cross the main road and avoid road traffic accidents which were affecting the students on a daily basis.

Lilongwe city major Juliana Kaduya who presided over the launch of the child friendly infrastructure hailed the two organisations who worked with CYCA to construct the child friendly infrastructure that will aid in preventing road traffic accidents on the road.

Kaduya also urged the communities closer to the school to avoid vandalizing the installed infrastructure.

“There are people out there who like stealing public property including road signs, I would like to urge them to avoid such malpractice because many lives will be at risk,” she said.

Head Teacher of Chiwoko Primary school Jane Kamkwatira expressed relief at the infrastructure which has been constructed at the school, Kamkwatira reported that students were being hit by vehicles on a daily basis which was very depressing to the school authorities.

Kamkwatira has also urged the parents teachers association to civic educate the parents on usage of the road infrastructure.
