Form 1 students commence their secondary school journey today

Form One learners are expected to start classes tomorrow, as schools re-open after a five week closure due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

These are learners who passed the 2020 Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education-PSLCE examinations.

They were supposed to go to their respective secondary schools earlier this month but failed due to the recent closure of schools.

President Lazarus Chakwera announced an extended closure of schools due to the surge in Covid 19 cases including in education institutions.

Now, classes in primary and secondary schools as well as tertiary institutions resume today, as the country records reduced cases of Covid 19.

In a statement, Secretary for Education Kiswell Dakamau, reveals that the Ministry of Education has revised the academic calendar.

Dakamau believes the revised calendar will help schools to provide adequate teaching and learning time to complete their curriculum.

He therefore appeals to all education institutions to implement the set Covid 19 preventive measures to control the spread of the pandemic.
