Government optimistic on Indoor court progress

The government is optimistic that the Griffin Saenda Indoor Court in Lilongwe will be completed in the soonest time possible.

The facility is being constructed at the Bingu National Stadium.

In a latest interview with Capital FM, Sports Minister, Ulemu Msungama expressed optimism on the progress of the structure.

“I can assure all Malawians that the facility is progressing well. As the government we will make sure to fund the project as it progresses so that it is completed on time.”

The Griffin Saenda Indoor Court will have a modern court, shops and offices for not only netball officials, but also other minority sports such as volleyball and basketball.

Saenda who died late last year, had served as coach for the county’s National Netball team the Queens, and had also served on the team’s technical panel.

In his honor, government decided to name after him, the facility whose construction was already in progress at the time of his death.

It will also play a crucial role as the country prepares to host the 2022 Africa Union Sports Council Group 5 games next year.
