Businessman Leston Mulli has laughed off rumours that he has pocketed a loan worth K17 billion from the government through the Reserve Bank of Malawi.

This comes after Human Rights Defenders (HRDC) officials announced at the end of anti-Jane Ansah demonstrations yesterday that they will, in the next couple of days, reveal the name of the person who has allegedly been given the money.

The HRDC added that the beneficiary has been given 83 years to pay back the money.

The protesters are reported to have been calling out Mulli’s name when the announcement was being made.

Speaking at a press briefing today in Blantyre, the business tycoon says he has never borrowed from the government but from commercial banks.

Mulli further warns that people should refrain from commenting on his businesses because he will take them head-on legally.
