The Malawi Queens went down 74-25 to Australia’s Diamonds last night, in their second loss at the Vitality Netball World cup tournament in England.

The Queens were just coming from three successive wins, but struggled tremendously to catch up with the current world number ones, trailing 21-2 by the end of the first quarter.

Midway through the final quarter, Australia’s lead had grown to 50, with the score at 70-20. The Queens managed not to let that margin grow any further and won the final quarter, their only one of the match.

The Queens next face Zimbabwe in a crucial match on Thursday.

The Malawi Queens recently dropped in position on the latest netball rankings dropping team three spots from position six to nine.

While Australia maintained the lead in first place and Jamaica overtook England to claim second place.

On fourth and fifth position respectively are New Zealand and South Africa, while Uganda takes the sixth spot for the first time in history.

Scotland and Northern Ireland take position seven and eight with Trinidad and Tobago anchoring the top ten.
