Malawi booted out of COSAFA youth championship

The country’s U-17 National Football team have been booted out of the COSAFA Youth Championship in group stages after losing to Zambia by three goals to two.

Malawi is hosting the tournament which has drawn participation from eight Southern Africa countries.

Malawi won their first game against South Africa by three goals to nil but faced a setback which Eswatini defeated them, two-one.

The team was then placed on number three behind Eswatini on number two and Zambia on number one.

Wednesday's match demanded that the junior flames should win or leave the tournament at their own backyard.

Zambia and Eswatini who were tied to a one-all draw, proceed to face number one and second in group B which comprises Angola, Mozambique, Lesotho and Comoros.
