Employees of the National Oil Company of Malawi Limited (NOCMA) are pressing the institution’s board of directors to effect immediate disciplinary action against their acting Chief Executive Officer, Helen Buluma.
In a letter addressed to NOCMA board chairperson, a copy of which Capital FM has seen, the workers are accusing Buluma of ill-treating them in various ways since she took charge.

The letter also accuses Buluma, who has been publicly singled out as a former governing Democratic Progressive Party operative, of using insulting words and threats on her subordinates over what the junior personnel describe as petty issues.
Several attempts by Capital FM to get reaction from NOCMA Board Chairperson, Zangazanga Chikhosi, who is also Secretary to the President and Cabinet, proved futile as his phone went unanswered.
Buluma replaced Gift Dulla as NOCMA CEO albeit in an acting capacity following the latter’s arrest in September on charges bordering on abuse of office.
