The National Planning Commission-NPC is targeting to reach out to 80% of the country’s population with the national aspirations that are contained in the Malawi 2063.
NPC Director General Thomas Munthali disclosed during a memorandum of understanding signing ceremony of their partnership with the National Initiative for Civic Education-NICE Public Trust.
Following its official launch in January this year, the Commission has embarked on mission to get all Malawians involved in the implementation process of the long term developmental blue print.
Munthali asserts that only an informed citizenry can be able to track the implementation of the vision, hence the partnership with NICE Public Trust.
“We believe that the Malawi 2063 ought to be owned by every Malawian to ensure that the tenets of inclusive wealth creation are achieved. And partnering with NICE will give us an edge to reach out to eighty percent of the population before the end of this year,” Munthali stressed.
NICE- Public Trust Executive Director Ollen Mwalubunju has however hinted that Mindset change among the populace will play a critical role in ensuring that the populace is able to embrace the vision and work on it.
Mwalubunju has since expressed confidence that they will be able to reach out to the targeted 80% of the population, owing to their capacity and size.
NICE Trust plays a major role in conducting various civic education initiatives including voter sensitization during elections owing to its wide reach and presence in every constituency across the country.
