Police recover K3Million of Bushiri’s money

The police have recovered about K3 million of the money that self-styled prophet Shepherd Bushiri was defrauded in his booking of the Bingu National Stadium.

Three BNS officials were arrested for allegedly defrauding Bushiri of K4.2 million.

Wongani Ng’oma, Thokozani Chanza and Edwin Kambalame been charged with theft by public servant after they failed to produce the money which was part of a K5 million booking fee for the facility.

Bushiri’s Enlightened Christian Gathering church had done the booking in respect to a 31 December crossover service which the authorities eventually cancelled due to Covid-19 fears and other logistics.

The 3, are reported to have charged Bushiri 5 Million in booking fees, but only K800 000, was recorded in the formal accounts.

On Tuesday, Senior Resident Magistrate Florence Msekandiwana indicated that the police have so far recovered about the K3 million of the full amount and that state had concluded its investigations into the matter.

Msekandiwana  has since granting the trio bail,  and ordered them to each pay K250,000 cash bond and present one traceable surety each bonded at K1million non-cash.

They are also required to surrender their travel documents and report to central region police once every fortnight.

Meanwhile, K1.2 million remains unaccounted for.
