According to John Phuka of the Presidential Taskforce on Covid 19, of the new cases, 985 are locally transmitted infections and only 7 are imported cases.

Phuka adds that the country has also registered 78 new recoveries were also registered and 17 new deaths.

Cumulatively, Malawi has registered 14, 851 cases including 353 deaths.

About 8082 of the confirmed cases are currently active.

Phuka advises the public to seek medical attention after noticing the symptoms of the virus.

He explains that they have noticed that patients are arriving late at treatment centres while in a severe state or pronounced dead on arrival.

Phuka also advises on the consumption of herbal concoctions that contain a  mix of chemicals like alkaloids.

He warns that such herbs stress important organs like the liver and the kidney.
